    Human Resources and Capacity Building

JBCP administers the training of technologists at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), and through technology transfer courses, such as in cooperation with The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC). JBCP is also involved in upgrading the skills of radiologists with the KHCC team and through exchange with MDACC, in addition to facilitating the pooling of images at KHCC to ensure proper reading. JBCP also has begun to expand the scope of training to nurses by training them on how to perform Clinical breast exams and create a self sustaining system of training technologists, radiologists, and engineers to become trainers.

National Breast Cancer Screening & Diagnosis Guidelines distribution

An important milestone in the work of JBCP and for Jordan as a whole is the first-ever publication of Breast Cancer Screening and Diagnosis Guidelines for Jordan, designed to provide relevant healthcare professionals with the recommended standards and procedures as well as a consistent framework for screening. These national guidelines have been endorsed by the Jordanian Ministry of Health and are acknowledged by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). Representatives from various medical sectors in Jordan including the public, private, military and NGO sectors have worked collectively on tailoring these guidelines to the Jordanian context and needs.

The guidelines have been disseminated to relevant health professionals though training workshops throughout the Kingdom and will serve as a reference manual covering clinical breast examination, mammography, pathology, and, referral. They also contain a step by step process on conducting a clinical breast examination.

JBCP partners with the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC) to develop standards for breast imaging.

JBCP had begun working with HCAC in June 2009 to develop standards for breast imaging.  A local task force was formed to evaluate the existing units and to put the standards in place. After working with various international entities and organizations the standards have been set and are being translated into Arabic.
