Agreement to boost breast cancer awareness in Ain Al Basha
AMMAN (JT) - Thousands of women in Ain Al Basha will be educated on the importance of early breast cancer detection under an agreement between the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Deloitte Jordan.
HRH Princess Dina Mired, director general of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and honorary chairperson of the Jordan Breast Cancer Programme (JBCP), signed on Saturday a memorandum of understanding with Karim Nabulsi, managing partner of Deloitte in Jordan to establish the “Deloitte Awareness and Early Screening Project” in Ain Al Basha.
The project entails raising the awareness of over 7,200 underprivileged women in Ain Al Basha on the importance of self-testing and early detection of breast cancer as well as providing them with self-examination techniques, according to the statement.
As part of the initiative, women volunteers from Ain Al Basha will undergo training and conduct visitations with local women to promote early detection awareness and techniques.
Also under the agreement, 480 women will also receive free mammography examinations at the health centre in Ain Al Basha, the statement added.
Princess Dina underlined that the JBCP works to involve all segments of society to protect women’s lives by encouraging them to perform regular mammograms and providing necessary facilities and financial support at accessible health centres.
Omar Fahoum, chairman and chief executive of Deloitte in the Middle East, underlined that the agreement came as part of Deloite’s corporate social responsibility and support for the Kingdom’s health sector, according to the statement.
The Jordan Breast Cancer Programme, led and supported by the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, aims to improve breast cancer care and services for women across the Kingdom and raise awareness on the importance of early detection and regular examinations.
